Mashable Releases a List of 21 Fascinating Photos of the Pyramids at the Turn of the 20th Century

A collection of photos of the Pyramids of Giza circa 1870 - 1930 curated by Retronaut's Wolfgang Wild and released by Mashable show a little-known trend in the evolution of tourism in Egypt and how visitors and sightseers experienced the country at the time.

The photographs were taken in the peak of colonialism, an element so evident in each piece. Yet, another fascinating aspect of the collection is that some of them are taken from the summits of the massive structures, Alex Q. Arbuckle notes.
