10 Movies We’re Excited To See in 2020

Egypt is often labelled the Hollywood of the Arab world, not only because many Egyptian actors have made it big in Hollywood but because Egyptian films are some of the best in the region. It has been that way since the Golden Age, and it probably won’t be stopping anytime soon. And with the new year right around the corner, here are some of the movies we’re most excited to see in 2020:

  1. No Time to Die (April 2)

Set for release in April 2020, Egyptian-American actor Rami Malek is the next Bond villain set to take the big screen in the 25th Bond film, 'No Time to Die'. The upcoming movie will be Malek’s next huge role after his Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody, wherein he played legendary musician Freddie Mercury.

  1. 2050 Hell Siege

Egypt’s very first 3D film, '2050: Hell Siege', will star Dorra Zarrouk and Hassan El Raddad. Not many details have been revealed about the film other than that it will be a sci-fi flick set in the future about the end of the world and will be produced by Mohamed El Komy. The official release date has not yet been released.

  1. Vanguard (January 25)

Jackie Chan’s newest film, 'Vanguard;, is set for release on February 2020 and will feature Egyptian-American actor El Sayed Badreya. Speaking to Egypt Today, Badreya said, "We have already shot some scenes in a number of countries such as Dubai, London and China. We are currently shooting in India.’’ You may remember the actor from his role in 'Iron Man' or 'Hamam fi Amsterdam' as Hamam’s uncle.

    4. Ashbah Europa (January 8)

Set to release in the very beginning of 2020, Ahmad ElFishawy and Haifa Wehbe’s newest film titled 'Ashbah Europa' is hitting the box office on January 8th. This will be the first cinematic work for Wehbe since 'Halawet Rouh' and will also feature the likes of Mostafa Khater, Arwa Gouda and Bassem Samra.

    5. Death on the Nile (October 8)

The thrilling murder-mystery features a star-studded cast including Armie Hammer, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot and Black Panther’s Letitia Wright.

The 2020 film stars Mona Zaki alongside Ahmed El Sakka once again as an onscreen duo. This amazing pair will be joined by Yosra El Lozy, Dhafer L'Abidine, and Reem Moustafa. The film's story centres around a drug cartel that has concocted a new substance, and follows their plot to try and sell it.

    7. Banat Sanawy (January 7)
